Joseph V. Sakran is a survivor of gun violence, a member of the Health Equity Task Force for the Health Equity Tracker at Satcher Health Leadership Institute at the Morehouse School of Medicine, and a trauma surgeon and director of emergency general surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He received an M.D. from the Medical School for International Health at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel, a master’s degree in public health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a master’s in public administration from Harvard University’s John F.
